Topcon won the job through completive tender.

Works were to make safe the fire damaged Grade 2 listed buildings on the water front of the river Freshney enabling safe access into the buildings allowing survey works for future building redevelopments and area regeneration.

Sympathetic dismantling of various structures with a top down approach for safety, working from crane baskets to remove defective roofs and significant vegetation growth within the buildings revealing the original floor slab including asbestos and pigeon guano.

Deconstruction of all unsafe masonry facades carefully removing bricks by hand – cleaning, collating and setting aside for future reconstruction and renovation.

Original Maltings building was sympathetically renovated and rebuilt including new floor structure, new lantern roof, reconstruction of elevations and brickwork repointing.

Access to Migar house has been updated by means of bridge refurbishment working closely with the local authority, Historic England, conservation officers and building control throughout.
